Key West High School is very fortunate to have senior, Jefflyne Desilme. Not only is she involved with activities and academics, but she is also an encouraging helping hand to everyone she meets.

Desilme is an active member in Zonta, Mu Alpha Theta, and Beta Club. She represented KWHS at Girls State. Desilme also serves as a school mentor for incoming freshman. She helps out in her community by being a translator for kids and students who have trouble communicating with their teachers, parents and classmates. She is also very involved in her church community. Desilme spends her whole summer at Sunday school, in addition to attending church every Sunday.
Desilme loves school and learning, and she plans to go to college after high school. She said, “I am graduating May 31st and If I could go to college June 1st I would.” She is currently deciding between Florida International University or University of Central Florida, where she plans to major in political science and then attend law school. Her goal is to become an immigration lawyer.
Her biggest accomplishment as a student is maintaining her grades and home life, “finding that balance between home responsibilities, school and church is very important to me.”
Desilme loves to help others and finds great joy in doing so. She explains, “I don’t do it because I think I know everything or to show off, it is just how I am. I will go above and beyond to help anyone regardless of the situation or who you are.”
Her main advice to other students is, “Be respectful to yourself, your teachers, other students, and little ones. If you stay respectful and humble you will definitely go places in life.”
Desilme said she is proud to be a Conch and to be a part of such a wonderful and loving community.
