The Superlative “Best All Around” is one of the highest honors a Key West High School student can receive. A student who is “Best All Around” excels in sports, clubs, and academics. This year these well-rounded students are Francesca Carbone and Ryan Keane.
Swim captain, band captain, and Homecoming Queen Francesca Carbone embodies the superlative “Best All Around”.
Carbone said, “I was extremely surprised and it felt really nice that the senior class thought of me that way.” She said that the superlative fits her because she is dedicated to so many of activities.
“I try to do a lot of things when it comes to academics and sports, but I do all those things because I enjoy it”, said Carbone.
In addition to the swim team and band, she is the secretary of Mu Alpha Theta, a member of National Honor Society, and a peer mentor. Last fall, Carbone was nominated to the Homecoming Court and crowned Queen by KWHS students.
Carbone said, “All of my involvement in school has kept me on top of my academics, the fact that I was involved in so many activities left me with very little time to do homework, which allowed me time to focus on my homework.” She has taken a total of 10 Advanced Placement (AP) and 1 Dual Enrollment (DE) class.
Carbone will be attending the University of Florida in the fall to major in mathematics in hopes of becoming an actuary.
Keane was was surprised to hear that he was voted “Best All Around” by the senior class.
“A lot of people told me they we voting me and that shocked me and hearing my name on the intercom for Best All Around was very cool” said Keane. He is deserving of this superlative as he excels in and outside of school.
“I try to do my best in everything I do so it was very rewarding that my peers recognized me for that”, said Keane.
Keane is the President of Interact Club, he played varsity football and basketball. He also is an active member of National Honor Society, Project Unify, and more. He has taken a total of 13 AP and DE classes.
Keane will be attending the United States Naval Academy.
